Xcaret Review: Why It’s the Best All-Inclusive Resort for Teens (and Parents Too)

Beautiful Hotel Xcaret

We almost didn’t go. Our original plan was to visit Beaches Turks and Caicos, but when it unexpectedly closed for renovations, we had to pivot fast. Our travel agent suggested Hotel Xcaret Mexico, promising it would be a great fit for our family. She even got us a fantastic rate.

What started as a backup plan turned out to be one of those rare trips that checked every box. It was luxurious yet adventurous, relaxing yet full of energy, and best of all, it brought us closer together as a family.

The Setup: A Happy Accident in Paradise

Our trip took place in October 2019, just before the world changed. We were a family of three: two parents and our eight-year-old daughter, looking for sun, fun, and connection.

We booked through our travel agent, who highly recommended Hotel Xcaret Mexico. At that time, it was the only resort in the Xcaret family, with Xcaret Arte still under construction. From the moment we arrived, we knew this was something special.

This last-minute switch ended up being one of the best vacation decisions we’ve ever made.

The Resort: Luxury Meets Nature

We stayed in a Swim-Up River Room, which gave us a quiet pool right outside our back door. It felt secluded and peaceful, surrounded by tropical greenery and the gentle sound of water.

Days started at the infinity pool, where we’d sip smoothies and enjoy the view, and often ended at one of the many restaurants. The Sunday brunch buffet was a standout and possibly the best we’ve ever had. There were bees making fresh honey, handmade tortillas, and even sushi carved from a freshly caught tuna.

We loved Las Cuevas for its cave-like setting and delicious grilled meat, Teatro del Rio for dinner and a show, and especially Bio, which served creative plant-based food and drinks that somehow felt indulgent and healthy at the same time.

The food alone was worth the trip. That’s saying something for an adventure resort.

The Parks: Unlimited Fun Beyond the Resort

What truly sets Xcaret apart is that it’s not just an all-inclusive resort. It’s a gateway to adventure. Your stay includes access to several eco-adventure parks, all connected by clean, efficient shuttles.

During our week, we visited XensesXplor, Xplor Fuego, and our absolute favorite, Xenotes.

At Xenotes, we rappelled into underground cenotes, swam in crystal-clear water, kayaked, zip lined, and laughed nonstop. It felt like a private adventure that was both peaceful and thrilling.

At Xplor Fuego, we zip-lined through rings of fire under the stars. Sharing that moment with our daughter was unforgettable. She was fearless, and we were right there with her, cheering her on.

At Xcaret, adventure doesn’t cost extra. It’s built into your stay.

Resort Days: When Doing Nothing Feels Just as Good

When we weren’t exploring parks, we fully embraced resort life. Lazy mornings at the infinity pool, paddleboarding and kayaking in the lagoon, and soaking up the views were just what we needed.

Our daughter loved discovering the slides tucked around the resort, and we enjoyed the family-friendly bars where we could all relax together.

We skipped the spa and adult-only dinners this time because we genuinely love spending time as a family. At Xcaret, that was easy to do. Fun for kids was equally fun for adults.

We didn’t need a kids’ club. The whole resort was one giant playground.

Why It’s Perfect for Teens (and Parents Too)

Most all-inclusives cater to younger kids. Once your kids hit the teen years, the options start to thin out. Xcaret changes that.

The parks, water activities, and open-air adventure make it perfect for teens who want freedom and excitement. Parents can join in or relax nearby, knowing everyone’s happy.

Our daughter may have only been eight at the time, but it was clear that this resort grows with your family.

Xcaret is one of the rare resorts where teens don’t need to find something to do. It’s all right there waiting for them.

Luxury for Less: Unmatched Value

We visited during the off-season, and the resort never felt crowded. The value was incredible then, and even though prices have increased, it’s still one of the best deals in luxury family travel.

Between the world-class restaurants, top-notch service, and included park access, it’s easy to see why the week flew by.

Even as prices rise, the value of Xcaret is unmatched. You’d spend twice as much piecing this together anywhere else.

If We Went Back

Next time, we’d stay longer. There’s just too much to see and do. We’d love to revisit Xenotes and check out the parks we missed, Xcaret and Xel Ha.

One little-known perk worth mentioning is the photo package. Cameras are set up all around the parks and resort, capturing candid moments throughout your adventures. Downloading them after your trip is easy and surprisingly affordable.

Our week absolutely flew by, and that’s how you know a trip was worth every penny.

Final Thoughts: Adventure, Connection, and Pure Joy

For our family, Hotel Xcaret Mexico struck the perfect balance. It was luxurious enough for adults, exciting enough for kids, and full of the kind of experiences that bring you closer together.

If you’re looking for the best all-inclusive resort for teens, or for families who love both adventure and comfort, this is it.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico proves that you don’t have to choose between adventure and luxury. You can have both.
